A Worcestershire gritting and snow clearance company has announced it aims to be carbon neutral by 2030.
AA Salt, which helps hundreds of businesses keep their premises safe in the winter months by gritting and snow ploughing car parks and access roads, has made a series of environmental pledges as part of its drive to protect the planet.
In the coming months the Himbleton-based firm will be installing a new wash bay which will see its 13-strong fleet of vehicles cleaned using around 50,000 litres of rain water gathered each year from the roof of their storage warehouse….

An award-winning Worcestershire gritting and snow clearance company has taken its next growth steps following a move to second premises and a five-figure vehicle fleet investment.
AA Salt, which helps hundreds of businesses keep their premises safe by gritting and snow ploughing car parks and access roads in the winter months, has relocated its operations base to a 12,500 square foot storage and operations facility in Cowsden, near Upton Snodsbury.
The move doubles the size of the firm’s operational capacity and adds a second site on top of its headquarters in Himbleton.

BigChange Mobile Workforce App Doubles Productivity at Gritting Operator AA Salt
Winter maintenance company AA Salt has doubled the productivity of its gritting operators following the introduction of a cloud-based mobile workforce system from BigChange. Operators equipped with rugged tablets use a mobile app that synchronises in real-time with back-office management software as part of a 5 in 1 solution for paperless working.
The productivity gains, which are due to improved routing and job scheduling using BigChange Schedular software and greater efficiency through the elimination of paperwork. As part of the system, the fleet is also fitted with GPS tracking so gritting operations can be monitored 24/7 and this, coupled with live status reports from gritting operators, has allowed AA Salt to boost customer service.

A successful family firm from Worcestershire has been shortlisted for a regional business award in recognition of its growth, customer service and environmental credentials.

Since July’s award win, the winter maintenance firm has attracted new customers who see how using a bespoke local gritting contractor can add value – with quick 24/7 response times, dedicated and well-trained staff, online tracking, accurate local knowledge and pinpoint weather forecasting.
With preparation always top of the list, the Himbleton company’s 14 lorries, 4×4 vehicles, quadbikes and salt reserves are now being primed to support over 400 sites in Herefordshire and Worcestershire including hospitals, schools and retail parks. Formed in 2002, the family firm is run from its Himbleton-headquarters by Nikki Rogers, husband Mark, and son Ben Tanner. Over the past 17 years they have gone on to employ 27 full-time and seasonal workers and grown to 400 customers.
